Professor Choon-Taek Lee graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea in 1982 and received PhD from Seoul National University in 1991. He completed Internal Medicine training in Seoul National University Hospital and become specialist of Internal Medicine and subspecialist of pulmonology. He finished postdoctoral fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (1994) and Vanderbilt University (2002) under guidance of David P Carbone. He currently serves as a professor of Division of Pulmonology, Department of Internal Medicine, Seoul National University College of Medicine and Seoul National University Bundang Hospital since 1998. His main clinical interests are early detection and molecular analysis of lung cancer and multi-disciplinary approach of lung cancer especially ground-glass opacity nodule (GGN). He published many papers on natural history, long-term follow-up results, molecular analysis and diagnostic strategy of GGN.
He has also investigated experimental therapeutics for lung cancer using adenoviral gene therapy. He investigated gene therapy with oncolytic adenovirus, cytokine adenovirus, antisense and siRNA technology. From 2013 to 2014, he served as president of Korean Society of Gene and Cell Therapy. He published lot of papers on lung cancer and wrote a book chapter, Gene Therapy in “Lung Cancer”. He is an active member of IASLC and AACR and also serves as board member of Korean Association of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (KATRD) and Korean Association for Study of Lung Cancer (KASLC).
