The risk of second primary lung cancer: an unsolved dilemma

Abstract

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States (1) and is a worldwide health problem. For patients who have been successfully treated for an initial primary lung cancer (IPLC), there remains a risk for the development of a second primary lung cancer (SPLC).
